Week of March 30, 2020

Our Bible story on Sunday for 252 Elementary was from the book of
LUKE 15:21-32 –
The Prodigal Son

SAY THIS TO CONTINUE THE CONVERSATION:
When you don’t forgive, you miss out.

REMEMBER THIS:
“Put up with one another.
Forgive one another if you are holding
something against someone. Forgive,
just as the Lord forgave you.”
COLOSSIANS 3:13, NIrV

DO THIS TO CONTINUE THE CONVERSATION:
BED TIME
It’s true that forgiveness is hard. But forgiving someone isn’t just about them, it’s about you, too! When you forgive, you can have peace. Forgiveness sets both you and the other person free. Are you missing out on something right now that you could change through forgiveness? Pray that God would show you any place in your life where you’re holding onto anger and help you forgive.

LIFE APP-
FORGIVENESS:
DECIDING THAT SOMEONE WHO HAS WRONGED YOU DOESN’T PAY.

First Look Week of March 30, 2020

Our weeones heard from JOHN 13:34-35 –
Jesus tells us to love one another the way He loves us so everyone
will know we follow Him.

REMEMBER THIS:
“‘Come and follow me,’ Jesus said.”
MATTHEW 4:19, NIrV

SAY THIS TO BUILD FAITH SKILLS IN YOUR LITTLE ONE:
Who can you follow?
I can follow Jesus.

BASIC TRUTH:
JESUS WANTS TO BE MY FRIEND FOREVER.

DO THIS TO BUILD FAITH SKILLS IN YOUR LITTLE ONE:
CUDDLE TIME
Cuddle with your child this month and pray, “Dear God, we want to follow Jesus and love people the way He loves us, but sometimes it’s hard. Sometimes we don’t want to share or be kind or forgive. Please help us love people like Jesus, even when we don’t feel like it. We really do want to follow Jesus. We love You, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Wednesday Night Small Group Leader

One of our Kids Connect Small Group Leaders on Wednesday night is Mr. Jeremy, who also happens to be married to Ms. Michelle. Mr. Jeremy has been attending FUMC since 2007. He’s served in Children’s Ministry for 11 years.

While this is his first year as a SGL on Wednesday nights with our elementary kids, Mr. Jeremy has been a helper to our preschool SGL, Ms. Shirley, for the past 11 years. The weeones just love Mr. Jeremy who connects with them in a way only a ‘dad’ can!

Mr. Jeremy is also a dedicated servant in our Hungry Hearts ministry. He comes in on Thursday evening once a month to wash the dishes and on Wednesdays once a month he picks up food donations from Panera Bread.

When he’s not busy influencing the faith of the next generation, he’s busy educating them. He is a sixth grade teacher at CAMS South.

I’m putting this out there (again): Mr. Jeremy deserves major kudos for investing in kids like he does. On Wednesdays he spends the day with middle-schoolers and his evenings with K-5th graders! What a trooper, yeah? We are praying for his sanity too!

When he’s not serving at church or teaching at school, Mr. Jeremy likes to golf. If you want to say ‘thanks’ to Mr. Jeremy, golf balls are a good idea 🙂

The best part of having Mr. Jeremy as a SGL is his booming voice and ability to lead games on Wednesday nights and have fun with them too. He also doesn’t mind when weeones climb on him like he’s a jungle gym.

Mr. Jeremy makes Wednesdays fun for kids and for other small group leaders. And we appreciate it so much!

Wednesday Night Small Group Leader

One of our Kids Connect Small Group Leaders on Wednesday nights is Ms. Michelle. Ms. Michelle has been attending FUMC since 2007. She’s served in Children’s Ministry for 11 years.

She’s also served on Leadership Team as Shine Coach, leading the Joyful Jingle project, and last but not least, being a SGL for the 8th grade girls!

When she’s not busy influencing the faith of the next generation, she’s busy educating them. She is a first grade teacher for the Chambersburg School District.

I’m just putting this out there: Ms. Michelle deserves major kudos for investing in kids like she does. On Wednesdays she is with kids ALL. DAY. LONG. We pray God continues to strengthen her and keep her sane!

For Michelle, the most rewarding part of being a SGL is making connections with the kids and having them want to learn more about God and keep coming back each week! She loves to see them get excited!

When asked what is the most fun part of being a SGL is for her, she replied, “Playing crazy games with the kids!”

Ms. Michelle would absolutely recommend being a SGL! She makes a great point too. In her words, the “only requirement is that you love God… and share that with the kids!” Very true!

Her favorite Bible verse is John 14:27 –
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (NIV)

Small Groups!

Option #1

READ ROMANS 15:13

Have you ever scored 100% on a test? Ever pitched a perfect game? Ever hit a hole in one at mini-golf? Perfect is possible in some circumstances. But perfect isn’t a guarantee. Or is it?

What if you could have perfect peace, 100% of the time? Even if you face the worst day, the kind that Alexander would label as a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day kind of day?

When you trust in Jesus and what He did for you on the cross, God gives you His Holy Spirit to guide and help you. You can experience perfect peace when you trust in the One who made you and loves you more than you could ever imagine.

Grab an index card and write “100% Perfect Peace Guarantee: Romans 15:13” on the front. Ask an adult to help you tape this card to the top of your doorframe. As you leave your room each day, jump up and tap the card to remind you that you can have peace 100% of the time because God is in control.

KNOW  that God promises perfect peace when you put your trust in Him.

Option #2

Pass the Peace!

Find someone in your home or neighborhood that you can “pass the peace” to. All you have to do to pass the peace is to find someone to pray for! Go now and ask someone to sit down and pray for peace with you. You can pray something like this:
“Dear God, I know that You care so much about me and that You will always take care
of me. I pray for ______________ (name of person you are praying for). I pray that
they can also have peace in their heart when things get hard. God, allow us to always
remember that You are in control no matter what happens. We love You, God, amen”

THANK God for people in your life that can help you remember to have peace.
